Sit-in against Indian State Terrorism
In Islamabad: Muslims in Jammu Face
Threats
July 8, 2008
The All Parties Hurriyet Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir
Chapter (APHC-AJK) staged a protest sit-in in front of the
Indian High Commission in Islamabad against continued human
rights violations, torture of Hurriyet leaders, the burning of
shrine of Jenab sahib in Soura by occupation troops and the
attacks on Muslims’ lives and properties by Hindu fanatics in
Jammu region.
The APHC-AJK Convenor, Syed Yousuf Naseem led the sit-in, which
was also participated by Professor Muhammad Ashraf Saraf,
Mehmood Ahmed Sagar, Mir Tahir Masood, Syed Faiz Naqashbandi,
Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Ghulam Nabi
Nowsheri, Dr Abdul Aala, Shaikh Muhammed Yaqoob, Altaf Hussain
Wani, Abdul Majeed Malik, Muzaffar Shah, Khadim Hussain, Altaf
Ahmed Butt, Abdul Hameed Lone, Muhammad Hussain Khateeb and
Showket Ahmed Butt.
Speaking on the occasion, Kashmiri leaders condemned the attack
on the life of senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmed Shah by Indian
troops and termed it as a cowardly act. They maintained that
India would not succeed in its designs to eliminate the Hurriyet
leadership. They said that Indian agencies in collaboration with
Hindu extremist organizations were hell bent upon to give
Kashmiris’ liberation struggle communal colour. However, they
added, people of Kashmir would not allow such conspiracies to
succeed.
The speakers stressed India to accept the ground realities, give
up its intransigent approach towards the resolution of Kashmir
dispute and fulfil its promises of awarding Kashmiris their
right to self-determination to decide their future. They urged
the world human rights bodies including United Nations
Organization (UNO) to impress upon India to stop rights
violations and take steps to ensure the safety of liberation
leaders of the occupied territory. The speakers also demanded
the Secretary General of UNO to send a special envoy to occupied
Kashmir to take stock of Indian state terrorism.
Muslims in Jammu are being threatened: Gilani
In occupied Kashmir, expressing concern over the attacks of
Hindu fanatics on Muslims’ lives and properties in Jammu region,
senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has said that
Muslims are feeling insecure in the region.
Syed Ali Gilani in a statement in Srinagar said that the puppet
administration had bowed down to communal forces and was acting
as a mute spectator while Muslims were being threatened.
The senior Hurriyet leader said that time had come when these
fascist forces should acknowledge the truth that Jammu and
Kashmir is not an integral part of India but a disputed
territory where peoples’ future is yet to be decided.
“Kashmiris, who have been bravely resisting seven lakh Indian
troops, cannot be cowed down by such forces,” he said.
Syed Ali Gilani stressed the need for sustained mass movement
against India’s illegal occupation on the analogy of recent
successful uprising against transfer of forestland to non-Kashmiris.
He added, “After our success in revoking the land transfer
order, people should be ready to show resilience for achieving
goal of freedom.”
Reacting to the resignation of puppet chief minister of the
occupied territory, Syed Ali Gilani said that whosoever comes to
power makes no difference to the people of Kashmir, adding every
administration in occupied Kashmir was a puppet in the hands of
Delhi and acting on its directions.
Syed Ali Gilani visiting the shrine of Jenab Sahib at Soura
said, “The fire incident of the shrine should be investigated
independently and culprits should be brought to book.” He
pointed out that the attempt to set ablaze the shrine was a part
of the conspiracy to damage and desecrate Kashmiris’ religious
places.
Meanwhile, expressing serious concern over the fire incident of
the Jenab Sahib shrine on Saturday, the Grand Mufti of Jammu and
Kashmir, Muhammad Bashir-un-Din termed it a deep-rooted
conspiracy. He demanded a judicial probe into the fire incident.
