17 March 2009 Kampala — The Police has arrested
four people from Kasasira village, Butesa sub-county
in Pallisa district in connection with a ritual
murder.
The eastern regional Police spokesman, Iddi
Ssenkumbi, identified the suspects as Isa Wayibi,
Sebastian Musana, Bbumba Aramazan, and Daudi Byendala.
Ssenkumbi said Wayibi, who was previously a witch
doctor, is suspected to have cut off a woman's head
and buried it in the compound of his new grinding mill
as a cleansing ritual.
"Wayibi brought a woman, saying she was his second
wife. He kept the woman indoors, but on the fateful
night, the children heard cries for help from their
father's bedroom," said Ssenkumbi.
"In the morning, they saw the body of a woman with
the exact white blouse and black skirt that she wore,
lying in the mill without the head," Ssenkumbi
narrated.
The children allegedly told their classmates about
the incident, prompting Wayibi to issue a stern
warning.
The Police dug up Wayibi's compound and a pillar in
the middle of the grinding mill where it was suspected
the head might be buried but did not find it.
"Before she was slain, the woman screamed in Lusoga.
Since Wayibi had another home in Bugiri, we suspect
that she was brought from there.
"Musana is said to have transported the body on his
boda boda," Amos Gumisiriza, the district Police
commander said. |
