Indian troops violating human rights
in IHK
A prominent Indian human rights activist, Gautum
Naulakha has said that Indian troops under black laws
like Armed Forces Special Powers Act were violating
human rights in the occupied Kashmir.
He expressed these views in a telephonic address to
the participants of a seminar organized by Peace
Foundation at a school in northern town of Handwara.
Kashmir University professor and renowned columnist,
Sheikh Shaukat Hussain was the chief guest of the
seminar.
Gotum Naulakha said that human rights violations were
stepping up in the occupied territory and peace would
not be restored until the people of Kashmir would be
given their rights. He said that Indian troops had
been exploiting the people of Kashmir since last six
decades through special powers provided under black
laws.
“Indian media, human rights organizations and judicial
system never supported the people of Kashmir whenever
they raised their voices against unjust and brutality
of the puppet administration and occupying forces,:”
he regretted.
While lauding campaign of peaceful protests in 2008
against Shrine Board’s decision, he said that people
should continue peaceful protests to mount pressure
for early resolution of the Kashmir dispute. The
seminar was attended by a large number of people and
many notables of Handwara.
Professor Sheikh Shaukat Hussain said that thousands
of innocent Kashmiris had been martyred by Indian
troops while no accused had been arrested so far.
Rafique Ahmed, a student of Handwara Public Model
School, said that Indian troops, in Bomai and Poshpura
employed brute force against innocent people. Another
student of Islamia Public School, Mirajud Din said
that Indian troops had set up camps across the
occupied territory to harass and torture the innocent
Kashmiris. »
