30 March 2009 The Hamas Movement stated Monday
that the Arab leaders face a new test regarding the
Arab issues in general and the Palestinian cause in
particular, highlighting that the Israeli measures
committed in Gaza and the judaization schemes
targeting occupied Jerusalem are two issues of concern
to the Arab and Islamic nation.
In an exclusive statement to Al-Bayan website, Hamas
spokesman Fawzi Barhoum stressed the need for tangible
Arab positions effectively translated on the ground to
protect the holy city and its people from judaization
and displacement.
For his part, Dr. Yahya Mousa, a member of Hamas
parliamentary bloc, played down the importance of the
Arab summit held in Doha, saying that this summit does
not represent any qualitative addition but a
quantitative addition to the previous summits.
In an exclusive statement to same website, Dr. Mousa
underlined that the PLC does not demand the Arab
summit anything because it is able to do nothing
especially since the Arab Nation lost its weight and
dignity among other nations and its image became
discreditable.
The lawmaker added that the Arab Nation could restore
its weight and dignity and force the Israeli
occupation and the US to respect it, but there is no
Arab regimes working on that because all of them think
of how to maintain their powers and satisfy the US and
Israel.
In the same context, the Islamic Jihad Movement called
on the Arab summit to consider the interests of the
Palestinian people away from any international
conditions and support their steadfastness according
to an integrated national vision guarantying a
continuation of the national liberation project, the
restoration of usurped rights and the protection of
holy places.
In a statement received by the PIC, Islamic Jihad
called on the Arab leaders to adopt the decisions
taken in the Gaza emergency summit held in Doha
particularly with regard to the withdrawal of the Arab
peace initiative as well as a defense strategy to
support the resistance especially with the imminent
formation of a new extremist Israeli government.
Haneyya asks Arab leaders to
implement previous summit resolutions on Gaza siege
Meanwhile, Palestinian premier Ismail Haneyya has
asked the Arab rulers to implement former summit
resolutions concerning the siege on Gaza and to demand
the trial of Israeli war criminals.
Haneyya in a televised address to the Arab summit on
Sunday night asked the Arab countries that still
maintain relations with Israel to sever those ties.
"Waiting is no longer acceptable and we ask for
implementation of what previous summits had approved,"
he underlined, adding, "The siege has claimed the
lives of hundreds of patients and paralyzed life in
the Gaza Strip".
Shifting to the internal Palestinian dialog, he opined
that there was still a chance to solve pending
questions away from foreign intervention.
"We agree to a unity government that would re-build
institutions, prepare for the elections, break the
siege and stabilize internal conciliation," Haneyya
elaborated.
The premier asked the summiteers to pay more attention
to the issue of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli
occupation jails and to exert greater efforts to
ensure their release.
He finally asked the Arab heads of state to protect
Jerusalem from judaization and incessant attempts to
forcibly evacuate its indigenous inhabitants and to
activate the issue of Palestinian refugees at
international platforms. |
