01 April 2009 GAZA, (PIC)-- Hamas spokesman Fawzi
Barhoum said Wednesday that there is no difference
between the successive Israeli governments except that
the new government of Benjamin Netanyahu reflects the
general orientation of the Zionist community, adding
that it is the most transparent in its racist agenda
which denies the Palestinian rights.
In a press release received by the PIC, Barhoum added
the government of Netanyahu is also the most
straightforward in flouting the obligations of the
previous Israeli governments and thus it would be
ridiculous to demand the next Palestinian government
to abide by the PLO's agreements with Israel.
The spokesman warned that the danger of the Zionist
extremism does not only target Hamas alone, but also
the entire Arab region because the extremist Zionist
mindset is based on hatred and revenge on Arabs.
In a related context, Amr Mousa, the secretary-general
of the Arab League, said Wednesday that Israel has one
unchangeable policy regardless whether its governments
were left-wing, right-wing or moderate, stressing that
the outcome of negotiations with the former Israeli
government was zero.
Mousa underlined that the Arab position towards the
new Israeli right-wing government has to change
because this government is more specific about its
extremist positions than its predecessor which adopted
the principle of negotiation as a media stunt and
peace marketing without any tangible results on the
ground.
The head of the Arab League highlighted that the
negotiations must stop now with Israel unless it ends
settlement expansion in occupied Jerusalem, adding
that the current year of 2009 should be a decisive
year regarding the Arab-Israeli conflict.
Netanyahu's government should learn lessons from its
predecessors
MP Mushir Al-Masri, a member of Hamas parliamentary
bloc, stated Tuesday that the far-right new Israeli
government should learn the lessons from its
predecessors and not be engaged in ventures and bets
that already proved their failure.
In a press release received by the PIC, MP Masri said
that this government has to consider the consequences
of its forerunner's failed attempts to exclude Hamas
from the political scene through blockade and
aggression.
The lawmaker underlined that the sole option the
Israeli occupation has is to positively deal with the
Palestinian people's rights and the requirements of
the prisoner swap deal and the truce.
Regarding Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu's demand
on the Palestinians to recognize Israel, the MP
questioned: "Does Netanyahu recognize the rights of
the Palestinian people? Did he determine the borders
of this state to be recognized?"
He noted that Zionists cannot identify borders for the
state they demand to be recognized because they talk
about a state from the Nile to the Euphrates.
Masri pointed that no one should bet on Netanyahu and
his aide Avigdor Lieberman or some of their
Palestinian followers, adding that the coming days
will prove this wager is only a mirage and brings more
destruction to the Palestinian cause.
In another context, Netanyahu alleged Tuesday, during
his government's appearance before the Knesset to gain
confidence, that he has willingness to negotiate peace
with the Palestinians, but he did not talk about any
Palestinian independent state.
He also said that in case there was a final agreement
with the Palestinians, they would enjoy all their
rights to govern themselves except those rights which
pose a threat to the security of the Israeli state. |
