16 March 2009 Doha — Sheikh Yusuf Al Qardawi, a
chairman of world Islamic clerics has met with a
delegate led by the Somali clerics and Hawiye
traditional elders in the Qatari capital of Doha on
Monday.
Sheik Bashiir Ahmed Salaad, a chairman of Somali
clerics explained to Sheik Qardawi how peace efforts
and mediation of Somalia is going on in the country
and how ceasefire agreement can be reached requesting
him to be involved in the peace process of Somalia.
Sheik Qardawi had met with Omar Sheik Ali Idiris, a
representative of Somali president Sheik Sharif Sheik
Ahmed before meeting the Somali clerics and
traditional elders and Mr. Idiris handed to Sheik
Qardawi a replying letter from the Somali president
Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed.
The meeting which is attended by the chairman of
world Islamic clerics Sheik Qardawi, Somali clerics'
chairman Sheik Bashiir Ahmed Salad and Mohamed Hassan
Haad, the chairman of Hawiye traditional elders was
talked greatly about matters on Somalia and how it
would be solved peacefully and continue mediating and
reconciliation to restore the peace and stability of
Somalia.
Lastly Sheik Qardawi suggested to all the parts of
Somali people to support and welcome the peace process
and he urged the Somalia clerics to continue and play
crucial role for the peace efforts in the country.
Islamists Reopen Hawala Companies
Meanwhile, five Hawala companies have been reopened
by the Islamist administrators in the port town of
Kismayo, our reporter in the region reported on
Sunday.
The Islamic administration in Kismayu closed the
companies last week after they accused of not
participating rebuilding projects in the town.
The companies complained about that they could pay
the amount of money that the administration demanded
from them.
The reopening of the companies in Kismayo came
after the managers of the companies and the Islamist
administrators in the city agreed to reopen them.
Bashir Abdi Adan, an agent from Dahabshil Hawala
company in Kismayu told reporters today that they the
disagreement between the administration and the
companies have been solved.
It was first time that the Islamists close the
companies since they took control the city last
August. |
