18 April 2009 GAZA, (PIC)-- Khaled Al-Batesh, an
Islamic Jihad leader, expressed his Movement's
rejection of demanding any future Palestinian
government to recognize Israel or abide by the PLO's
previous agreements.
In a press statement to the PIC, Batesh said that his
Movement suggested the formation of a national unity
government on the basis of tasks, where it should be
responsible mainly for the reconstruction process,
preparing for the next legislative and presidential
elections, and rebuilding the security apparatuses in
the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
He pointed out that the international quartet
including the US is responsible for obstructing the
national dialog through demanding the Palestinians to
recognize Israel and accept its terms in exchange for
Gaza reconstruction.
In another context, Abu Al-Qassam, one of the Islamic
Jihad leaders in northern West Bank, said that the PA
security apparatuses summoned Saturday a number of its
cadres in the areas of Burqin, Zababda and Wadi Izz
Al-Din in Jenin city and arrested them after hours of
interrogation.
Abu Al-Qassam noted that the PA security apparatuses
summon everyday about three persons for investigation
and hunt whoever not responding to the summonses.
Hamas will never recognize Israel
MP Dr. Mahmoud Al-Zahhar, a prominent Hamas leader,
has said that his Movement would never recognize the
"Zionist entity".
During a Friday Khutba (sermon), Zahhar revealed that
his Movement's armed wing has better weapons at
present than before the Israeli invasion of the Gaza
Strip.
He pointed out that four minor issues were still
obstructing the conclusion of a national unity
agreement.
Hamas studied all proposals, including the one tabled
by Egypt, and would head with its replies to Cairo by
the end of this month, the Hamas leader elaborated.
Zahhar further underlined that Hamas would not change
its conditions for the release of the Israeli captured
soldier Gilad Shalit topped by the release of 450
Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences. |
