Somalia's Islamists Destroy About 100 Indian Graves, Urging Women To Take Veil

Kismayu — The Islamist insurgent forces in the port town of Kismayu about 500 kilometers south of the Somali capital Mogadishu have destroyed about 100 of Indian graves in the town, witnesses told Shabelle radio on Thursday.

The Islamic administration officer for the destruction of the graves in Kusmayu town said that the forces conducted operations in the town and destroyed at least 91 graves those were buried by Indian people who lived in Isku-Filan neighborhood in the town adding that the people burried in those graves were Shiate.

The Islamist officer told reporters that they collapsed the graves for reasons that they were not good to be there and against the religion of Islam adding that the residents were taking part the operations collapsed the Indian graves in Kismayu town today.

It is second time that the Islamic administration in Kismayu town in Lower Jubba region destroys graves around the town in Lower Jubba region and the move is part of the administration' decision of destroying graves those are visited by the people.

Islamists Urges Women to Take Veil

The Islamist administrators of al-Shabab in Baidoa town 250 kilometers south of the Somali capital Mogadishu has urged the women to take veil and ordered all business people to close their business centers at the time of the prayers, officials said on Wednesday.

Sheik Abdi Asis, member of Al-shabab officials in Bay and Bakol regions told the reporters in Baidoa town that they issued many edicts including all the women in Baidoa town to halt taking the transparent clothes and take a veil and to close the business centers by the tome of the prayer.

"All the women in Baidoa town should take the veil and stop dressing transparent clothes. Women wearing transparent clothes can not be seen in the town and also walk through the streets in the town. We are also telling all the merchants to close the doors of their business centers in the town at the times of prayers. If any business centre is seen being opened in Baidoa town it will be closed for 5 days," Sheik Abdi Asis said. If also unveil woman is seen through the streets of the town, she will be detained for at least 12 hours. He added.

It is unclear how these declarations will be contemplated in Baidoa town thought there had been several edicts that Al-shabab administration imposed earlier which failed to be considered in the town.
