OIC To Develop Mechanism To Solve Conflicts In Muslim World

Damascus, May 25 (KMS): The Secretary General of Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu has said that the OIC is considering to take further steps to develop a mechanism for resolving conflicts in the Islamic countries.

Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, addressing the participants of the meeting of the OIC’s Foreign Ministers Council in Damascus, said that in addition to the established policy in the conflicts in Palestine, Nagorno-Karabakh, Somalia and Kashmir the OIC was considering the specific approach, for which a mechanism should be developed.

The Secretary General said that the closed ministerial meeting was devoted to developing new plans for resolving conflicts and taking new steps. ”The meeting of Foreign Ministers will focus on consideration of future plans in providing material and political assistance to Islamic countries,” he added. »

‘Settlement of Kashmir vital for peace in South Asia’

Leader of the APHC-AJK chapter, Syed Yousuf Naseem has said that peace in South Asia cannot be secured as long as Kashmir dispute remains unresolved.

Syed Yousuf Naseem, addressing a meeting of Kashmir Contact Group on the occasion of the 36th session of Organization of Islamic Conference’s (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers, apprised the participants about the prevailing situation in occupied Kashmir. He said that Indian troops were perpetrating gross human rights violations in the occupied territory with impunity under the protection of black laws.

The APHC leader deplored that India didn’t probe the unnamed mass graves discovered in Uri area of occupied Kashmir. He said that Kashmir dispute was a political issue and could be resolved through peaceful negotiations. He added that Kashmiris were struggling to secure their right to self-determination and they would continue their struggle till its logical conclusion.

Syed Yousuf Naseem also urged the international community to impress upon India to settle the conflict over Kashmir according to the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. »
