Hamas Maintains The Zionist Project Hinders The Islamic World's Development
14 June 2009
ISTANBUL, (PIC)-- Mohamed Nazzal, a member of the Hamas political bureau, said during his participation in the Eighth conference of the federation of Islamic associations held in Istanbul, that the Zionist project is an obstacle in the way of development and change in the Arab and Islamic Nation. During his speech, Nazzal explained the gravity of the Zionist project as the advanced base for the western imperialism in the region. The Hamas political official also gave another speech during his participation in the international conference on Palestine held in Istanbul and spoke about the extremist agenda of the Israeli government headed by Benjamin Netanyahu and its demands for recognizing the Jewish state before reaching any agreement with the Palestinians. In a lecture delivered during the international forum of Sheikh Nahnah held in Algeria, Nazzal spoke about the present and future of the Palestinian cause. During his presence in Algeria, he paid a visit to the house of late Sheikh Mahfouz Al-Nahnah in the city of Blida and met with Al-Nahnah family and some of his disciples and friends. Israel's settlement drive in Jerusalem would only stop under big pressure Meanwhile, Sheikh Ekrema Sabri, the head of the higher Islamic authority in Palestine, has said that Jerusalem is an Arab, Islamic city and none is authorized to give up one inch of it. He said in a press statement on Saturday that Jerusalem should return to Arab, Islamic sovereignty and the Israeli occupation should come to an end. The Sheikh warned that the Israeli leaders are adamant on going ahead in the settlement drive in occupied Jerusalem and would only stop when faced by serious pressure from the world community. He pointed to the growing demolition of Palestinian homes and rapid judaization steps, asking Arabs and Muslims, rulers and ruled, to shoulder their responsibilities toward the holy city. There could be no peace in light of continued settlement activity and there could be no viable Palestinian state amidst such "cancerous" expansion of settlements, Sabri concluded.
