Qatari Emir In Gaddai Host AU Submit For Arab Causes In International Organizations

The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the current chairman of the Arab League, attended on Wednesday in Sirte the opening session of the 13th African Union summit. Addressing the Conference's opening session, the Emir underlined that the Arab world and Africa were "bound by strong historical, geographical, economic and cultural relations." Sheikh Hamad said "we uphold highly African support to just Arab issue in international organization which reflect the strength of ties that link both parties." The Emir also noted the attention devoted by Arab countries to African issues as well as their support for development in the continent and the enhancement of joint Afro-Arab action. He said a halt to wars and armed conflicts was necessary to bring about security and stability, which were vital for development. Political will, uprooting of corruption, ignorance and disease, better educational and health services, and democracy and respect for human rights will lead to more foreign investment and aid for Africa. Sheikh Hamad told the over fifty African leaders that he hoped that African peoples would achieve better living standards equals the wealth of their continent and that "we have to remember that who imports his bread, exports his will."
