4 July 2009
Hizbullah’s Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah visited Syria to discuss the current phase before the formation of the new Lebanese cabinet, Al-Liwaa newspaper reported. The paper added that the trip falls within the framework of consultations that are taking place between Damascus and the leaders of the opposition to form a national unity government. Hariri’s visit to Syria does not exonerate the Syrian regime Member of Lebanon First parliamentary bloc MP Imad Al-Hout stressed that an atmosphere of tranquil is necessary for the formation of the government, pointing that the Saudi-Syrian contact could provide such atmosphere away from regional tension, stressing that the government is formed in Lebanon not outside. As for the visit of Prime Minister Saad Hariri to Syria, Al-Hout said that this visit does not exonerate the Syrian regime from the assassination of President Rafic Hariri, because the special tribunal for Lebanon hasn’t accused any side yet. Lebanon First MP explained that the slogan of this bloc means providing job opportunities for the Lebanese in additional to foreign investments, pointing out that both Almustaqbal and Al-Jamaa Al-Islamiya refuse returning to isolation or giving up the Arabic role. He stressed on the importance of forming the government without any foreign interference, calling the minority and majority to make compromises “because Lebanon is threatened by the Zionist and American project in the region.” He pointed that the Lebanese are honorable and decent and are not “presented for sale, and it is inappropriate to describe the Lebanese citizen as a slave or item”, in response to MP Michel Aoun who said that the elections was a slave market. Al-Hout said that the relation with Syria is important, “in condition that it is a relation between two countries,” adding that Hariri is a Prime Minister and according to this post, he has relations with Syria, in consultation with President Michel Sleiman.
