Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Hassan Fadlallah told Voice of Lebanon Radio on Monday that contacts between Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri and Hizbullah’s Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah are still ongoing to agree on an appropriate formula to form the next cabinet. He affirmed that a joint meeting is likely to take place between both leaders in the next phase to discuss relevant proposals concerning government formation. Fadlallah said "we are awaiting the outcome of the consultations and contacts occurring at all levels, as we are observing Prime Minister designate Saad Hariri’s approach toward the political forces to decide on the proposed formulas to form the government." He pointed out that the opposition expressed its eagerness to accelerate the formation of the government. “It also called to take advantage of the positive and reconciliatory atmosphere as well as the inter-Arab rapprochement to form a strong government able to face the next stage,” he argued. Fadlallah clarified that the opposition aspires that all politicians consent on forming a government of national partnership on the basis of opening a new page of national unity and consensus. Hariri stressed Monday the need for the formation of a national-unity cabinet in order to end the political divide between the March 8 and March 14 forces. He warned of Israeli threats and urged for consensus among different Lebanese groups in order to secure the country's stability. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a speech Sunday that if Hizbullah takes part in the Cabinet, the Lebanese government would be held responsible for any assault by the party against the state of Israel. Government formation is progressing without interventions Nader Hariri, head of the office of Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri, noted Monday that the government formation is proceeding calmly without any foreign intervention so the government would be capable of saving the country. After a visit to Maronite Patriarch Mar Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir, Nader Hariri said that he informed the Patriarch about the consultations regarding the government formation stressing on the importance of the relations between Koraitem and Bkerki. MP Saad Hariri, the leader of the majority, was designated prime minister on June 27 in order to form the post-elections government in coordination with President Michel Sleiman. On the other hand, the Patriarch will go in the afternoon to the summer residence of the Patriarchy in Diman. For the persistence of a free and sovereign Lebanon MP Elie Kairouz, member of the Lebanese Forces Party, said Monday that some want to eliminate Lebanon but “we want it to stay free and sovereign.” During the commencement of Saint Terez School and Academy in the presence of MP Strida Geagea, Kairouz stressed on the importance of accepting each other in order to build a community. Geagea and Kairouz were both elected for the two Maronite seats of the Bshare district and are both members of the March 14 coalition that achieved a victory in the june 7 parliamentary elections by winning 71 seats out of 128. Kairouz added that the diversity in the Lebanese community requires additional culture education for professors and students in order to ensure openness, moderation and awareness.
