Mufti Sheikh Muhammad Rashid Kabban Hails Qatari Support For Lebanon
28 July 2009
Sheikh Muhammad Rashid Kabbani, Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, hailed on Tuesday the role of Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalife Al Thani in supporting stability in Lebanon. During a meeting at Dar El Fatwa with Vice Qatari Premier Abdullah El Atiah, the Mufti praised the Qatari donations to the cedar’s country for the reconstruction of the regions damaged following Israeli aggression of 2006. Kabbani informed Atiah about the current situation in Lebanon and hoped the formation of the government would help the Lebanese in achieving their dreams in a secure and stable country with the contribution of Premier-designate Saad Hariri. Separately, the pilgrimage office of Dar El Fatwa announced in a statement that it will start receiving the applications of religious guides for this year’s pilgrimage season from August 3 till August 6, 2009. Syrian-Saudi approach positively affects the government formation MP Kassem Hashem considered that the Saudi-Syrian approach facilitated the steps towards the government formation, declaring that “there are some obstacles but will not affect the efforts to reach the governmental formula.” Hashem said Saturday in an interview to Lubnan El-Hurr radio station: “we must not insist on a certain concept or term suggested by the opposition (the obstructing third), but it is important to form a government of national unity through active participation, and there are several formulas that would achieve this goal’, adding that: “all signs show that a certain formula will be set for discussion.” Hashem stressed that President Michel Sleiman “is the judge and guarantee,” adding that “when the final formula is reached, Sleiman will have the decision of declaring the governmental formula”, as for Speaker Nabih Berry’s optimism, Hashem considered that it is due “to information he has and he is discussing the formation issue with all political groups and is aware about the process taking place to form the upcoming government.”
