6 Muslim Brotherhood Members Arrested, Renewal Detention Of 4 In Fayoum

The Fayoum public prosecutor on Tuesday evening has ordered 6 leading Muslim Brotherhood figures who were detained today in the governorate an hour south of Cairo remain in custody for a further fifteen days under investigation. The Muslim Brotherhood demanded their release, calling the decision "barbaric." Those arrested in the morning raid include Ahmed Ragab Sayyed (Veterinarian from Matartars village), Muawwad Ali Rabiea (Teacher from Shakshook village), Mahmoud Ahmed Abdel Fattah (Businessman), Mahmoud Mohamed Atashi (Driver), Essam Mahmoud Fathi (Businessman) and Mahmoud Touhami Mohamed (Teacher). The prosecution also issued an arrest warrant for Atiyyah Muawwad Jallul (Zawet Al-Kerdasa, B.A. Arabic Language, Faculty of Dar El Ulumm in Cairo) after he was arrested 8 days ago, while he was on a trip with some young men of his village on the shores of Lake Qarun in Fayoum. He was detained for several days at the local police station and this morning was sent to Wadi Al-Natrun prison. The Fayoum General Prosecution also ruled that three other Brotherhood members who were arrested on June 12 remain in custody. The three are: Mahrous Abdel-Gawad Mohammed (Abgig village), Adel Salem Saluma (Azhar teacher from Qasr Al-Basel village), and Omar Farouk Abdel-Azim (a lawyer from Ghidan Village) who was summoned from Alexandria and was arrested. In additional news, three leading Brotherhood figures remain under police detention in Wadi Al-Natrun prison along with Jallul. These are: Omar Youssef Hamed, Sha"aban Aweis, Atef Ghrayani in addition to 12 MB students who had been arrested four months ago after being attacked by Fayoum University Guard
