King Tells Governors To Improve Welfare Services To Their People
13 September 2009
MAKKAH: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah on Saturday urged provincial governors to work to further improve the welfare and well-being of citizens. “More efforts should be made for the progress and prosperity of the country and its people and to improve the level of developmental and living services,” the king said during a meeting with the governors at Al-Safa Palace. He hoped that the meeting between Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Prince Naif and the governors would achieve the desired goals. “These meetings offer a good opportunity to exchange views and proposals that serve the interest of the country and its people,” the Saudi Press Agency quoted the king as saying. King Abdullah gave his instructions to the governors and advised them to fear God and work earnestly for the welfare of citizens and for meeting their requirements. Prince Naif earlier briefed the king on the topics to be discussed during the governors’ meeting in Makkah. The governors who attended the reception at Al-Safa Palace were: Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz bin Musaed of Northern Border Province; Prince Muhammad bin Saud of Baha; Prince Khaled Al-Faisal of Makkah; Prince Sattam (acting governor of Riyadh); Prince Faisal bin Bandar of Qassim; Prince Muhammad bin Nasser of Jazan; Prince Muhammad bin Fahd of the Eastern Province; Prince Fahd bin Sultan of Tabuk; Prince Faisal bin Khaled of Asir; Prince Fahd bin Badr of Al-Jouf; Prince Abdul Aziz bin Majed of Madinah; Prince Abdul Aziz bin Saad, deputy governor of Hail; and Prince Mishaal bin Abdullah of Najran. In another development, King Abdullah on Saturday appointed Ali bin Suleiman Al-Attiyah deputy minister of higher education and Hamad bin Suleiman Al-Bazie deputy minister of finance. King Abdullah also named Ahmed bin Muhammad Al-Salim adviser at the Interior Ministry with the rank of a minister. Al-Salim was hitherto an undersecretary at the ministry.
