Hawiye Elders Call for World Clerics to Solve Matters

Somalia — The council of Hawiye traditional elders have issued a press release in Mogadishu on Wednesday and called for world clerics to solve the Somali matters.
The elders suggested to the international religious clerics to mediate and get solution for the deteriorating situations in Somalia where there had been conflicts for about 20 years pointing out that they are responsible for all the Muslim populations in the world and is an obligation on them to search the solution.
The traditional elders of Hawiye clans also requested from the Somali people in abroad or in the country those have property to help their brothers who are in the critical condition in Somalia, specially Mogadishu.
Mohamed Hassan Had, the chairman of Hawiye Elders who was signed in the press release told reporters that it is very important for the clerics to look at the Somali people with sympathetic eyes and support the Somalis quickly.
On the other hand the chairman of Dir clans Ahmed Mohamed Barre has held a press conference in Mogadishu calling to halt the fighting with the shelling between the Islamist forces and Government soldiers backing by AMISOM troops in the Somali capital Mogadishu.
Mr. Ahmed Barre said in his press conference that Ethiopia is directly intervening Somalia and the statement of both Dir and Hawiye clan elders comes as there had been clashes in the country specially Mogadishu in over the last months.
Fresh Fighting Starts in Mogadishu
Fresh fighting with heavy shelling has started in parts of the Somali capital Mogadishu, witnesses told local journalists on Tuesday.
Reports say that the fighting started early on Tuesday morning at around Sayidka intersection in the capital as the Islamist forces attacked bases of the transitional government soldiers there.
Residents started fleeing from their houses and expressing concern about the clashes of sides who used weapons with mortar shells during their fresh clashes.
The movement of the traffic, people and business in Bakara market, the biggest market in the capital and Makka al-mukaram Street were halted due to the bitter fighting between the transitional government soldiers and the Islamist fighters.
The real casualties of the fighting are unclear so far though there were some reports indicating that there were civilian casualties of deaths and injuries but could not be confirmed.
