| June 30, 2008 The Hamas and the Islamic Jihad
Movements asserted on Monday that they have strong relationship
and unity in political stands, refuting allegations spread by
media outlets belonging to the mutiny trend in Fatah faction
that the two Movements were at odds.
The prominent Islamic Jihad leader Nafez Azzam asserted in a
discussion on air with Dr. Mahmoud Al-Zahhar, the senior Hamas
leader, organized by the Quds voice radio that his Movement's
relationship with Hamas was firm as both Movements adhere to the
resistance option, and share the same political stands and
views.
He also hailed Zahhar's denial of statements against the Islamic
Jihad fabricated by the mutiny trend's media outlets and
attributed to Zahhar, saying that Zahahr's denial confirms the
strong and deep relationship between the two factions.
For his part, Zahhar refuted the allegations of the Fatah-affiliated
media that apparently tried fishing in muddy waters, and
attempted to mar the strong Hamas-Islamic Jihad ties.
"I'am not here to defend myself as you shouldn’t have believed
those fabricated statements in the first place because you know
how strong is the Hamas-Islamic Jihad relationship is",
underlined Zahhar.
A number of Fatah media outlets with connections to the
disgraced mutiny trend in Fatah faction attempted to drive a
wedge between the two factions with the aim to weaken Hamas's
position in the Palestinian arena that comes in parallel with
the frenzied arrest campaign against the Islamic Jihad cadres in
the West Bank at the hand of Abbas' security forces.
Abbas forces unleash arrest campaign among
Islamic Jihad cadres
The PA security forces under the command of PA chief Mahmoud
Abbas have unleashed on Monday a wide-scale arrest campaign
targeting members and military and political leaders of the
Islamic Jihad in the West Bank.
An official source in the Islamic Jihad affirmed in an interview
with the PIC that Islamic Jiahd cadres Naser Bani Oudeh and Ali
Bani Oudeh were arrested by the Abbas's security forces that
were still searching for Islamic Jihad cadres in Qabatia and
Tammon villages.
The source also called on the PA security apparatuses in the
West Bank to halt such "illegal" practices against the
Palestinian resistance fighters, saying that the PA security
forces should protect the Palestinian resistance instead of
turning themselves into agents protecting the interests of the
Israeli occupation government.
During the past few days, the PA security apparatuses arrested
many of the Islamic Jihad cadres and killed a number of its
military leaders.
Tens of hundreds of Hamas's cadres were arrested and
incarcerated in the PA jails since June of last year after Hamas
took control of security in Gaza Strip. |
