Iraq

U.S. Military intelligence has claimed that the Iranian supplies to Iraq are as per the orders from the highest level in Tehran. The American President George W. Bush says he could not be certain that the Iranian leadership is behind the alleged smuggling of weapons. But while the President and intelligence officials are talking in different directions at the ground zero, the fact is, in 21 days, 7 helicopters of the most powerful military in the history of mankind have been downed by hostile fire.
The President says he is going to do something about it. But how is the question. If he is going to go forward with his plan of bolstering the ranks with another 21000 soldiers then only God can help America. U.S. Establishment says that American deaths are due to Iranian support to Iraqi fighters. Well they would not have been killed if they were not in Iraq, Right? And who asked them to be there? Certainly not the Iranians.
The U.S. Military officials briefed the media last Sunday from a 200 – page classified document showing that Iranian weapons are being used against the U.S. forces. But what credibility do these documents have? Remember the WMD that Saddam Hussein was said to have? The fact is that the U.S. has landed itself in a mess from which there could not be any dignified return.
Since the war began, the U.S. has allowed in only 463 of the 3.8 million refugees who has fled Iraq. Now it plans to pledge 18 million dollars for a worldwide resettlement and relief program. The message sent out is clear "we will do whatever we want its duty of the rest of the world to clean up the mess; we don't mind paying for it."
Americans started this war thousands of miles away from their land defying even the will of the United Nations. But if Tehran interferes in the affairs of its neighbor, where U.S. has created a whirlpool of violence that can suck the entire Middle East into its doom, all hell brakes loose.
If this is not hypocrisy then what is?
If Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine and Chechnya are sending out any message, it is this - No army, no matter how powerful it is can successfully occupy a foreign nation for long periods of time without the support of the local population. It is this same factor that ended the colonialism in the twentieth centaury.
And the fact that U.S. is unwanted in Iraq is anything but false.
Only way out for America is to accept defeat graciously and withdraw. For there is greatness is gracious acceptance of defeat. That can save a lot of lives, both American and Iraqi. A failure to do so will not only cost America a lot of fine youngsters but can have disastrous consequences for the entire Middle East region and the wider world.
