American Assurances and Kabul Regime's Rotten State
28 January 2017By Shahamat Emarat
It is clear that the Mujahideens' strong military initiative that has resulted
in the siege of five provincial capitals namely Konduz, Baghlan, Farah,
Uruzgan and Helmand has caused great anxiety within American military and
political circles.
Reports suggest that the American commander for Afghanistan Nicholson has
made several tours to Konduz, Helmand, Farah and Uruzgan over the past week.
He held numerous consultations with the demoralized military and political
leaders of the regime. He assured them of American support, pointing out that
American Special Forces and aircraft were fighting in support of the regime,
and tried to raise their morale and urged them to fight harder against the
Taliban.
However it is quite evident that with the might of Allah Almighty the Taliban
have completely routed the regime's forces and no amount of 'prep' talking
will be able to raise their morale in Helmand and Konduz ever again.
This is due to the fact that in both Helmand and Konduz Americans have large
military bases and personnel. Their Special Forces and their aircraft fought
shoulder to shoulder with their internal allies and used aircraft to attack
the Mujahideen. In addition, the American's sent extra troops to these two
theaters and even sent special advisors to assess the situation. Moreover
their ex-Communist regime allies filled the airwaves with false promises of a
swift and decisive victory. Their ex-Mujahideen allies gave religious 'fatwas'
to defend the cities and begged for heavier bombardment. The American-owned
regime media cried baseless accusations of civilian massacres and mass
murders.
Yet despite all the military might and propaganda of the enemy, the
Mujahideens' strikes were so swift that it knocked the enemy of its balance,
seized the initiative, routed the enemy forces and captured their emptied
bases and military hardware.
There is no doubt that the Mujahideen number less than their enemies, and they
have fewer and inferior equipment compared with the regime and its foreign
masters. Be that as it may, the Mujahideen are nonetheless blessed with steely
resilience, high morale and, most importantly, the aid of their Lord. With
these few numbers and meager weaponry they shall, God willing, destroy and
rout these debased auxiliaries and the demoralized foreign forces.
The 'held beyond sentence' state of prisoners: Another international crime of
the Kabul regime
Ever since the two-head regime came into existence, they have achieved two
major steps. Firstly they immediately signed the Bilateral Security Agreement,
paving the way for constant and punitive bombardment that almost daily cause
civilian losses.
Secondly the regime head Ashraf Ghani suspended all prisoner releases
(political prisoners to be exact) that has effectively meant that political
prisoners in Afghanistan are indefinitely incarcerated. Under this decree even
prisoners who have served their court sentences are also being retained in
their detention.
The infamous Bagram prison which to a large degree was vacated and handed
over to Afghans has once again being filled with prisoners by the two-headed
regime and is once more largely supervised by the foreigners.
Recently the regime's Independent Commission for Human Rights reported that
currently there are hundreds of prisoners in Bagram facing an unknown fate and
approximately 150 children and minors are also held in this facility. This
regime body admitted that this state of affairs violates human rights law.
Similarly media reports quote the Senate's Representative for Pul e Charkhi
prison adding that 800 prisoners in this facility are being held beyond their
sentence, 440 are sentenced to execution, and a further 144 are inflicted with
unknown illnesses.
The Senate's Representative has remarked he wants the government to treat
these prisoners according to the law. Currently thousands of prisoners across
the country are kept in indefinite detention. The prisoners are not trialed
but neither are they being released.
This state of 'held beyond sentence' is a breach of international human rights
law and the regime can be subject to a writ of habeas corpus. Yet the regime
violates its international obligations be keeping these prisoners indefinitely
and the international community has turned a blind eye to this blatant
violation.
We call upon international organizations to work for the release of those
prisoners that have served their sentences and to campaign for bringing those
responsible for these illegal detentions to justice.
