Re-Thugs attack Kano Media Trust's
Office
09 Jan 2012
Auwalu Lawan Umar
I am a regular reader of the Daily Trust. I read the
above captioned news item published on page 3 of the
paper edition of January 5, 2012 and would like to
passionately put up this rejoinder to put the record
straight against the background of the unsuspecting
readers that have been deceived by the politically
manipulated contents of the story aimed at tarnishing
the hard earned image of the real people's governor,
Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his media aide.
From the contents of the said story, it is clear that
there is no way the governor's aide, Malam Jaafar
Jaafar could be involved in such blatant display of
thuggery and went as far as influencing the attempted
attack on Kano Media Trust's office, a paper that the
media aide had religious served before being appointed
by the State Governor.
It is true that the Deputy Governor of the State, Dr.
Abdullahi Umar Ganduje made his view in favour of the
removal of fuel subsidy, leading to the criminal hike
in the petrol price, which the Nigerian masses are
protesting. The Deputy Governor's point of view, which
he is entitled to, could not have made the government
or its aide to instigate the mopping up of the Daily
Trust edition of 4th January 2012, knowing fully well
that the same news item even if published cannot
totally deny the newspaper's readers from consuming
the story when the same story had already been posted
on its website. So, the alleged insinuation that
governor's aide might have been instrumental to the
attack and purchase of the paper's copies is totally
false, politically induced and lacks iota of truth.
Incidentally, the Daily Trust edition of 4th January
2012, which is the bone of contention, did not even
publish the alleged vexed story. So, why should any
one believe the bunch of lies being dished out by the
foes of the governor's aide in complacency with the
opposition who are always on their toes to blackmail
the hard working governor as being the suspected
culprit of attack on Kano Media Trust's office?
It is also on record that in the edition of the Daily
trust newspaper that was purportedly hijacked by the
government, it contained a full page advert announcing
the revocation of certain land titles and many news
items in favour of the state government. If this is
true, how possible for the same government or its aide
to spear head the destruction of the paper it paid for
advert? All these point to the fact that the attack on
Kano Media Trust's office would have been masterminded
by some disgruntled elements that are politically
envious of the government achievements. It is like
giving a dog a bad name in order to hang it.
It would be recalled that the governor's aide, Jaafar
Jaafar, having served the Daily trust before his
appointment was the paper's state editor and later
replaced with the reporter of the mischievous story
against the government. It is of public knowledge how
the young hardworking governor's aide is being envied
by his former colleagues in the media and would always
like to undo him for no just cause. This angle may add
to reason why the current state editor of the Daily
trust and the reporter, Auwalu Umar is in concomitant
with the evils that are plotting against Jaafar Jaafar.
