As Ramadan knocks on the door, markets start to prepare for the month of fasting decorated by colorful lanterns (Fanous) waiting for children's hands to hold them.

This year, Ramadan lanterns can be found everywhere in Gaza markets. However, children's hands are unable to reach them despite their relatively low price compared to the previous years.

This of course is not because families no longer want to buy Ramadan lanterns. The Gaza Strip is going through the worst economic situation in years resulting from a decade-long blockade which deprives its residents of their most basic rights to decent life.

It is obvious that parents will not buy Ramadan lanterns even though their hearts break for their children who will be robbed of their yearly joy.

Israeli Continues Its Massacre And Oppression: Tel Aviv Violently Quell Protest In Jerusalem

The Israeli police on Tuesday evening violently attacked a protest held near Bab al-Amud in the Old City of Jerusalem to mark the 70th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba.

Eyewitnesses said that a number of protesters suffered bruises after they were severely assaulted by the Israeli policemen.

Meanwhile, violent clashes broke out between Palestinian citizens and the Israeli police in al-Izariya and Abu Dis towns east of Jerusalem.

According to eyewitnesses, the police heavily fired sound bombs, teargas canisters and rubber-coated metal bullets at the citizens. No injuries were reported.

Three more Palestinians succumb to wounds

Three Palestinians on Tuesday morning succumbed to their wounds sustained during the Israeli massacre against Gazans protesting near the border fence on Monday.

A 16-year-old teen identified as Talal Matar succumbed to his wounds early today, while the infant Laila Anwar Ghandour, aged eight months, was pronounced dead as a result of the heavy inhalation of tear gas randomly fired by the Israeli occupation forces at the peaceful protesters.

Along the same line, a Palestinian identified as Omar Abu Fool, 30, also succumbed to his wounds at the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza.

Gaza death toll raised to reach 61, while hundreds others were wounded, many reported in critical and serious conditions.

51-year-old Palestinian killed in new Israeli attack

Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) on Tuesday shot and killed a Palestinian east of al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, raising the death toll to 63 since Monday.

The PIC reporter quoted medical sources as affirming that the 51-year-old Ahmad Gharab, from Nuseirat refugee camp, was killed Tuesday afternoon.

Two others have sustained injuries after being hit by Israeli gunfire.

More Palestinian protests have gathered along Gaza border on Tuesday, which marks the 70th anniversary of Nakba.

Since the rallies began on March 30, more than 116 Palestinian demonstrators have been killed and hundreds injured by cross-border Israeli gunfire, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

Gaza: Nine journalists wounded by Israeli gunfire in Monday's protests

Nine Palestinian journalists was injured by Israeli gunfire on Monday as they were covering the massive March of Return protests that were staged in the eastern border of the besieged Gaza Strip, according to the ministry of information in Gaza.

In press remarks, spokesman for the ministry Salama Maarouf condemned Israeli soldiers' targeting of unarmed citizens and journalists on Monday as "a massacre committed in full view of the entire world."

Maarouf affirmed that the passivity of the international parties towards such massacre would make them accomplices in Israel's crimes.

He also stressed the need for the international actors to assume their responsibilities in this regard after the Palestinian people engaged in peaceful protests to demand the implementation of UN resolutions on Palestine, especially with regard to their right of return.

"If the peaceful resistance failed to achieve our legal, political and humanitarian right to exert pressure on the occupation, our people have many options to use in order to restore their rights," the spokesman underlined.

Infant dies in Gaza from Israel tear gas, number of casualties hits 59

An 8-month old infant was pronounced dead in the blockaded Gaza Strip early Tuesday as a result of the heavy inhalation of tear gas randomly fired by the Israeli occupation forces at thousands of Palestinian marchers near the border fence.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health identified the casualty as Laila Anwar Ghandour, aged eight months.

Her death brings the total number of Palestinians murdered by the Israeli army in a day of carnage on the eastern Gaza border to 59, the ministry's spokesperson, Ashraf al-Qidrah reported.

Among the reported deaths were children under 18 years of age.

2,771 Palestinians were also injured, among them 76 cases on the verge of death and 54 others in critical condition, according to ministry statistics. 1,359 protesters were injured with live ammunition.

The ministry called for urgent action to supply Gaza's under-equipped hospitals with life-saving medicines and press for urgent medical referrals outside of besieged Gaza.

At least 113 Palestinians have been killed since the launch of the Great March of Return protests along Gaza's border fence on March 30. Over 12,000 marchers have been left wounded.

The march comes to speak up for Palestinians' right of return to their motherland and also to protest the US decision to transfer its embassy from Tel Aviv to Occupied Jerusalem.
